Greetings!

It's been a long time since I've been on here. As before, apologies to write in English, as my German is not very good. Feel free to respond in German if it is easier and I will translate.

I have my 1974 BMW 2002 here in Freiburg, and I must renew my TUV/H plates.

I have done a LOT of work to the car since I last did TUV, so I'm now having to sort all of my paperwork and fight TUV...

Right now I have 3 main issues-

1. I have converted to Weber DCOE 40's, and have hoped to use the following as approval-
https://strichzwo.de/itmdata/k4o4saz24sfh/alpina_a1.pdf

So far it's not going well.... I have a custom intake that is not 'optically correct' which likely  sounds too good (too loud) for TUV to approve... I will fight for the setup that I have, but I'm not optimistic when dealing with the originality police at TUV.... If it won't work, I am searching for an airbox that I can either borrow, or possibly buy if the price is right to achieve approval.

2. I have installed a vinage 1970's 350mm Momo Concave Steering wheel, with an original Momo Hub adapter (#0155).

-Does anyone know of or have approval they could share with me that could help> They are refusing to allow it.

3. I have installed Vintage Recaro Sport Seats as well that are in excellent condition, and I have no intentions of removing them....

-Does anyone have approval/documentation for the installation of Recaro Sport Seats>

Thank you for your time!
-Jeff

Hi there,

seats shouldn't be a problem - they are spot on period correct for a 74 car as this style was introduced in 74. I can provide some paperwork that these are ok for your Car.

Your Wheel is a tad modern, this means you need some paperwork -  if it and the car would be older and therefore before the introduction of KBA Numbers it would be easier as no paperwork would be required.

Your Airfilter seems to be the largest issue. In two words: go original. If you already have the small diameter Brake booster like ti(i) I could lend you one for approval.

Cheers

Uli

Hi Uli!

Thanks for the reply! I would love some paperwork for the seats, as I already sold the originals. I have a mechanic who also owns a 2002, and he suggested to swap the seats from his car, but I'd much rather put them in the papers correctly.

The same with the wheel too, if I can. If they say no, I at least still have the original wheel I can re-install.

I also have a 60's  320mm stacked-logo momo Prototipo I could install. Would that be more suitable>>

For the motor... Unfortunately I have the large brake-booster. :/

This is one of the main reasons I built my own filter solution. And, it's just plain better. You can check it out below-

Hi Jeff,

a special approval for exactly this type of seats shouldn't be needed as for 02 about all types of sport seats (fulfilling some minor requirements) are allowed in a Umrüstliste BMW has created in collaboration with TÜV.
Send me a PN and I can send you a pdf with an excerpt from the list concerning sport seats.

Best regards, Lars.
